CVC Word Work: Let's Tap out to Spell and Read Those CVC Words and More
These pages are easy to use and very kid friendly. I have included answer sheets for the facilitator just in case the picture is difficult to figure out. I have been there myself looking at a picture and saying to myself…..What were they thinking when they used this???
I have also included a brief explanation on tapping the sounds on the top of each worksheet so you can use this to support children in your class everyday as a strategy or as an intervention. These are also great for word work or spelling stations.
This resource is a PDF file. Inside you will find:
- 10 worksheets/printables with clipart of pictures to represent each word.
How it works
On these sheets there is a picture and a space to write the sounds in the word and then the whole word (spelling).
Each box represents one sound hence digraphs are represented with one box. Everything is explained on the top of each sheet.
When the children have completed their sheet, they need to find a friend to read their words to and the friend signs the sheet (reading).
10 answer sheets with markings if you mark glued sounds, bonus letters etc. No breve included for short vowels, but that can be easily added before you run off the sheets.
These answer sheets can also be used for tap to read interventions or as needed. They have the [picture with the word segmented and then the whole word.
These are tried and true represented by the enthusiasm of my kiddos. What I enjoyed most was when they could not figure out a picture, they needed to ask three friends before asking me and most times they put their brains together and figured out the words (critical thinking at work).
